HARMONY AND DISSONANCE
SWEETNESS AND CHAOS
As a whole, Spider Cult is a trio-to-quartet with an aggressively rhythmic core and a melodic identity defined in one part by sweet blues, and in another by a brutal shriek of a dying animal.
Kameqo “Q” Carter
Serving as “front-man” of the band, Q seemingly has their musical roots planted firmly in the depths of hell. The bass in their borderline irresponsible clutches serves at once as a percussive core, and a bottomless hole of riffs. Q’s playing is a booming perpetual motion machine of groove, with vocals ranging from whimsically dark rhapsodies to the harsh bellowing of a pseudo-mythical creature.

Ryan Rogers
When confronted with the invitation to join Spider Cult, Ryan chose the nuclear option. He weaponized his violin into an instrument of shred mere technicalities away from violating the Geneva Conventions. His playing soars high above the growling pulse of his rhythm section, the distorted notes moaning Hendrix’s name. With a sound so unexpected and commanding, he is known to turn the heads of anyone not paying attention, and drop the jaws of those who are.
Robin Rose Wood
In addition to her ambitious solo project Rose & the Sleeping Giants, Robin has bestowed Spider Cult with a beautiful combination of harmonic clarity and rhythmic style. Her love of meter and timing pairs well with her intimate knowledge of many genres of music and songwriting, making her guitar playing and sweet, haunting vocals the thread that keeps the chaos of the band tied together— a ghostly presence which protects the group’s sonic integrity. When she takes center stage, she becomes a vessel, harboring the spirit of a teller of harrowing fables as her lyricism shines through.
Clay Shields
The devotion Clay Shields has to improving all art he comes into contact with is not to be understated. Under the tyranny of his fingers, the fretboard at his command is a versatile machine which can listlessly drone beautiful chords just as well as it can chop heavy riffs with aggressive downstrokes.
Filling in the rhythm section is a purely hypothetical drummer, holding with them the skill and musicianship to completely alter the chaotic alchemy of the group into a solid object. Their kick, snare, and low tom are the war drums Spider Cult rallies to, together forming a driving force previously unknown to the stringband.
